Willamay Whitner's MG TF

In 1955 Willamay Whitner purchased this beautiful new MG TF in California.  She kept the car for 25 years.  Willamay was a gifted violinist and nurse.  She eventually received her PhD. in nursing and taught at Duke University.  We have all the original papers for this car from the Bill of Sale to the maintenance records.  Earlier this year, when we tried to contact Ms. Whitner, we learned from her estate that she had just passed away.  The estate lawyers told us she fondly remembered her car and they thoughtfully sent us some of its paperwork.

In 1985, Willamay sold the car to John Wells, a well known MG restoration expert in Austin, Texas.  John registered the car and drove it for several years.  Eventually he put it in a garage near Austin where it sat for about 20 years.   The car was well maintained but suffered from sitting in one spot for decades.

In 2007 we bought the car and a set of parts and we began the restoration process.  The car did not need much.  The gas tank had to be replaced because it leaked.  The engine had to be cleaned and we replaced the brakes and key brake components.

We also cleaned out the radiator and replaced all the hoses.  The fuel pump was replaced with a solid state pump to eliminate the issues with Lucas pumps.

The car is now on the road and is a very good driver.  The tires are new with white walls and the wire rims have been completely powder coated.  The interior of the car is in outstanding shape except for the carpeting which is being replaced.

Since the car was never in the weather---being a California and Texas car, there is no rust and the paint is perfect.
