TR3 A Frame Up Restoration

A Tale of Two Tragedies

This restoration took two TR3 tragedies and made them into one of the finest TR3's available in the United States.

The first tragedy was that of a man who started a TR3 A frame up restoration. He personally did the work on the frame, the engine, the rack and pinion steering. He took the body to a well known Houston body shop to have each piece meticulously restored. Then the body shop went out of business and he lost the body parts. Gone. So he sold us the beautiful frame, the engine, the racing brakes, the steering---every part the best money could buy. And we started the frame up.

The second tragedy was the 71 year old man who had been working on a TR3 frame up restoration for almost 10 years. He started with the body and had each piece beautifully restored so it was perfect. Then, he just plain ran out of energy. We bought the perfect body and are placing it on the perfect frame, powered by the high performance racing engine.

These pages will tell the story of that restoration which is now in progress. These pages show the work we put into the racing engine (about 154 HP), the racing brakes, the special steering, the special tires. We think this may be the best TR3 A in America. Certainly it is up there.
